Based centrally in Orange, CCT Productions provides production and installation expertise to the Central West of NSW.

Recently, CCT were asked to install lighting on the awning of Bank Orange, the leading customer-owned bank in Orange, NSW, which has been a part of the local community for almost 60 years.

The initial budget was limited, but it had the potential to expand later in the future. Currently, CCT has supplied two ShowPRO LED Colour Ranger 27 to reside on the awning. The Colour Ranger 27 is an IP66-rated architectural wash suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. It features 27 x 10W RGBW LEDs, 3-zone independent control of horizontal sections and a rugged build.

“The price point of the Colour Ranger 27 was very attractive,” commented William Louis, CCT’s AV Technician. “Considering there are a couple of different models of Colour Rangers out there, it was easy for me to know that they would work well for the job.”

William notes that the Colour Rangers’ weather resistance and ability to be controlled from a distance were key features.

“Not having to jump up onto the roof and say reprogram the DMX address or something like that, was definitely attractive,” he said. “We don’t want to be getting up there too much, it’s a bit of an OH&S risk. It’s super quick and easy to reprogram, readdress, or perform similar tasks.”

Will adds that the colour output and spectrum of the Colour Ranger 27 is impressive, and he was able to go through multiple shades of orange before finding the perfect match. Currently, the colour wash is set to only that orange, but in the future, the Colour Ranger 27s will be programmed to specific colours for notable occasions.

CCT suggested the idea of projecting the bank’s logo on the front entrance, and the bank loved that idea. After consulting with Show Technology’s Gareth Mealing, a Prolights Mosaico was chosen, as it has built a reputation as a solid LED fixture for projecting textures, images, and logos onto buildings and landscapes.

“We liked the robustness of the Mosaico,” remarked Will. “It’s also got good heat sinks, so it won’t get too hot, and can run for an extended period. We have just the one gobo, made by GoboTech, and it’s very effective. They may add more as it’s just another way for them to market something or draw attention to a community need, or something like that, if they wanted to do so. It’s a very versatile unit.”

The Mosaico is housed within a locally made, custom-built black box, thus keeping the fixture protected.

The feedback from the client and bank customers has been overwhelmingly positive, with Will noting that people have appreciated the professional appearance of the installation.

“It’s not rough and ready,” he added. “The sharpness of that image, I think, was a big thing for the entrance to make it look nice. Plus, it’s projected onto grey tiles, which helps it pop.”

A ShowPRO DMX Scene Player with 12-key XLR5 & USB port (AC612XUB) is used for control, allowing the CCT team to operate with any console, and it can capture its DMX output.

“It is so simple and means the bank’s staff can easily control the lighting!” stated Will. “An uncomplicated button panel that could have an off state, an on state or different other states if we program them.”
