GNB Productions has invested in an MA Lighting grandMA3 onPC command wing and a grandMA3 onPC fader wing to be added to its rental stock.
“We had a number of other consoles which were functional, but MA3 was the clear choice moving forward,” remarked Nick Brown, Managing Director. “It’s what the industry wants and what operators are familiar with. To be honest, I’d say it’s almost a case of we didn’t truly know how much we were missing out on until we dove into it!”
Nick and one of his team attended Show Technology’s two-day grandMA3 Hands-On User Training course, which he describes as fantastic. He adds that once you understand what you’ve got in front of you, with time and practice comes efficiency and proficiency.
Nick commented that they often provide both wings when doing jobs, which provides a level of redundancy. The wings are also a simple solution for the small gigs where the operator may have limited experience, offering all the power of the MA3 environment, with the simplicity of a fader wing interface for the user.
Fortunately, one of Nick’s team members, Harper, is very nifty with 3D visualisation.
“He’s gone through all the venues that we service and created a really accurate render of those spaces,” said Nick. “The benefit of just being able to pull out a laptop and a wing and do your job without having to go to those venues, some of which are 80km plus away from where we’re based, is just amazing.”
Nick notes that the advantage of being able to send a quick screen capture of an idea/lighting design to a customer who is struggling to envisage the outcome makes a world of difference.
