Earlier this month, Pyrus took delivery of four ShowPRO R3 LED Wash fixtures—compact, powerful and highly versatile units suited to both narrow-beam stage work and soft-edge washes, delivering a bright 4° beam and high-output 60° wash.
Geoff Gray, Director of Pyrus Events, has been so impressed by his ShowPRO R3 fixtures that he will look at getting more in the not-too-distant future
“Many of our events are small, so we required a small high-impact light to act as stage-fillers or put under or around LED screens,” he commented. “They’re great for adding a good punch of colour to what we do. In the first week we had them, they did three gigs.”
Geoff explained that Pyrus needed to retire its older moving-head lights and begin rebuilding its moving-head fixture inventory.
“Alongside its punchy, tight beam, the R3 can zoom out to deliver smooth, even full-stage coverage with few fixtures,” he added. “The warm white LED has been excellent where a warmer tone is often needed.”
The R3 Wash offers flawless 16-bit 540°/270° motorised pan/tilt movement, an onboard user preset library, smooth dimming, and built-in colour and strobe macros. With a small footprint, powerful features and a weight of only 7 kg, it is ideal for a busy company such as Pyrus Events.

Pyrus Events has been running grandMA3 onPC, which Geoff describes as great, but they wanted a simple controller for the smaller events. Geoff discovered the FLX console, an intuitive, multi-touch lighting desk designed for live events, theatre, and rentals. It runs on the stable, user-friendly ZerOS operating system and provides seamless, hands-on control for moving lights, LEDs, and conventionals.
Consequently, Geoff chose the FLX S24 model, which has 24 multi-function faders and supports up to 96 fixtures.
Its 7-inch touchscreen and physical encoders make patching, programming and playback easy for beginners.
“It’s so simple, even an inexperienced lighting operator could run it!” he quipped. “It’s been nice to finally have a control board with some faders. One of our techs learned it in under a day without any reference material.”
As for support from Show Technology, Geoff remarks that their customer service and willingness to help are exactly what he needs from a supplier.
“It is never any effort for them to visit and keep us included in what’s going on in the world of lighting and the world of Show Technology,” he concluded.
