Show Technology has opened a new showroom in Melbourne, underscoring its commitment to supporting lighting professionals with a first-class space to explore its wide range of equipment.
The showroom gives visitors the chance to learn about and train on Show Technology’s brands, while also serving as a space for customer and project-specific demonstrations.
Measuring more than 20m in length, the showroom is the largest dedicated professional lighting showroom in the country, and it is configured for complete flexibility, whether people want to view a single light or a full show rig.
“We needed a space that could properly support demos, particularly for our long-throw fixtures,” said Paul Nicolaou, Show Technology’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Before, we couldn’t show them at their full potential. Now we have a much larger room and have maximised the available height. Plus, the showroom now houses a mother grid to add to its flexibility; no more time-consuming building from the ground up! If we need to pull in the overall trim to give people an indication of how fixtures will look in a low-ceiling venue, we can replicate that and vice versa.”
The increasing demand for improved product demonstrations and a clearer insight into Show Technology’s capabilities drove the project. From the sales office upstairs, you can walk straight into the showroom via a large balcony that allows you to overlook the showroom, and a staircase that leads straight down into the showroom.
“We’ve opened up the back area to act as a function space,” added Paul. “We can have a barbecue, have larger events, and we’re fully catered. We’ve installed a new roller door so we can open straight into the showroom.”
The showroom opened in true style with 140 attendees treated to an evening of merriment and, of course, some fabulous lighting. The event brought together rental companies, lighting designers, technical professionals and students from the entertainment industry to experience Show Technology’s extensive portfolio.
Guests of honour were Alberico D’Amato and Raymond Chen from Claypaky, so the latest innovations from them were obviously showcased: Ultimo Sharpy, Ultimo Hybrid, Arolla Aqua S-LT, and Arolla Aqua M-LT. The ROXX Cluster B2 FC and B4 FC drew plenty of attention, as did the range of ShowPRO fixtures, especially the EC7 Wash, EC60 Wash IP66 and the Cyber Beams.
“We had a fully programmed three-and-a-half-minute show on timecode, which looked incredible,” said Paul. “It was packed and an awesome evening.”
Paul notes that Emmanuel and Gina Ziino’s foresight, faith, and investment in the Showroom demonstrate their commitment to and belief in the Melbourne market.
“The team devoted a lot of hard work into making this happen, and I’m proud of all they achieved,” concluded Paul.
