Jay Productions & Events has added sixteen Claypaky Midi-B to its established family of Claypaky fixtures including Claypaky Mini-B and Axcor 300.
“We needed another wash light to complement what we already own,” explained Phillip Dearle, General Manager at Jay Productions. “We have forty of the Mini-Bs and as the Midi-Bs have the same 40w LED chip set, it made sense to get the next step up in range.”
Phillip comments that the biggest selling point of the Midi-B was its light output and colour rendering.
At many of the productions we work on, such as high-end corporate events and weddings, our clients are always and after that social media moment many of their patrons will be taking a lot of photographs and videos so the light output was important,” he added. “The Midi-B is incredibly bright despite its small size and has certainly exceeded our expectations. It can also produce a very tight beam which adds to its versatility.”
The Midi-B’s zoom range of 4° to 50° allows for a wide variety of applications. At the narrowest angle, the beam produced is ultra-dense and concentrated, ideal for aerial effects. At its widest zoom, the MIDI-B turns into an exceptional, uniform wash light and can replace much heavier and bulkier fixtures.
The 19 LEDs are arranged in three independently controllable rings, which can be used for bright back lighting effects.
“They’ve been performing perfectly and we’ve had no issues with them,” said Phillip. “In fact, we can’t fault them.”
