St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls is a leading independent private school nestled in the heart of Perth, Western Australia.
The school features the Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre, an iconic building at the heart of the campus that serves as a hub and focal point for major school functions and events. Outside of these times, the Performing Arts Centre is available for hire.
Recently, the Performing Arts Centre received a major upgrade to the lighting system, marking an important investment in the school’s growing Performing Arts program. The project, led by Theatre Manager Noah Gliosca, introduces a modern, high-performance lighting rig designed to enhance production quality and support student learning across drama, dance, and technical production.
The decision to proceed with the upgrade followed the 2025 Show Technology Showcase, where Noah and lighting designer Richard Timms demoed the Prolights Jet Profile300LT fixtures. Impressed by their output, versatility, and build quality, both identified the fixture as a strong candidate for the future rig at St Hilda’s.
The Jet Profile300LT is a compact, quiet, and versatile moving LED profile designed for small to medium stages in theatre, television, and live performances. Featuring a 300W white LED source and a long-throw optical system with a large 140mm front lens, it delivers a robust 12,000 lumen output.
Following the showcase, Richard purchased 10 Prolights Jet Profile300LT fixtures to expand the inventory of Richard Timms Lighting for use across his broader production portfolio. These fixtures were subsequently hired into St Hilda’s for an external production in November 2025. Their performance within the Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre provided a valuable real-world demonstration, confirming their capability and suitability for the venue. This practical trial strengthened the decision to develop a comprehensive lighting specification centred on the Jet Profile fixture.
Working in partnership with Show Technology, the school proceeded with a comprehensive upgrade featuring: 20 x Prolights Jet Profile300LT, 8 x ShowPRO AuroCYC HEX IP, 16 x ShowPRO FusionPAR H XII, 16 x ShowPRO R3 Wash and a Luminex LumiNode 12 network control.
Additionally, 13 x ShowPRO MoonLite 150 Hex and 13 x ShowPRO MoonLite 80 Hex were installed for house lighting.
“The Prolights Jet Profile300LTs deliver a fantastic feature set for the price,” commented Noah. “They feature a high-quality gobo selection with crisp projection and strong output with good optical control. Their versatile functionality for both theatrical and event use is amazing.”
Noah was equally impressed with the ShowPRO products, saying the R3 Washes were a great value at a great price point. He added that they have fantastic intensity and a wide, even coverage.
“The ShowPRO AuroCYC HEX IP have high intensity output and excellent vertical and horizontal coverage,” he said. “And, just like the ShowPRO FusionPAR H XII, they deliver fantastic colour.”
As for the ShowPRO Moonlite house lights, Noah remarks that they have a smooth, seamless dimming curve with no visible stepping or flicker at low intensities.
With lighting rig layout and commissioning support from Richard Timms, the upgrade delivers an industry-standard system that enhances the experience for performers, audiences, and student technicians alike. This improvement positions the Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre for future success, and St Hilda’s looks forward to showcasing the new rig’s capabilities across upcoming productions and events.
