Newcastle-based SCION Audio & Events is a full-service event production company providing audio-visual, audio, lighting, staging and draping solutions across the Hunter Region.
SCION has had a dozen ShowPRO Pluto 350 LED moving head spots in its inventory for quite some time, with owner Anthony Tillman commenting that they have not disappointed.
“They’re reliable, easy to operate, quiet, and offer a strong range of effects,” he said. “So, when we decided to invest in LED moving head wash lights, the Pluto 8000 was the obvious choice. I’d seen them in action at another event and thought they were excellent. The beam quality was very good, and the colour blending was exceptionally clean, with no haloing in the mixed colours.”
Anthony added that the Pluto 8000’s colour mixing capabilities are incredible and the CCS (Colour Consistency System) allows him to maintain consistent colour quality with the Pluto 350 fixtures.
The photos show the Pluto 8000s at their first deployment, an event at Newcastle City Hall. Positioned upstairs in the gallery, the fixtures were used to light the ceiling and create colour effects across it.
They were joined in the gallery by the Pluto 350s, which were used for stage wash and for added effects on the roof, with Anthony explaining that they did gobo breakups and stuff like that over the Pluto 8000 washes.
“The Pluto 8000s provided the colour, while the Pluto 350s added the visual effects with spots and beams,” he continued. “I’ve since used the Pluto 8000s at NEX and other great events as a clean, high-quality stage wash. I’ve also used them at NEX as eye candy at the back of the stage, where they created some impressive visual effects.”
At Newcastle City Hall, Anthony also used twelve ShowPRO Smart Book wireless battery-powered wash lights supplied as a four-pack in a charging case, with high output in a slim, foldable housing.
“They’re extremely durable, with long battery life and wireless control,” he remarked. “They’re virtually indestructible. People have even driven over them by accident, and they’ve kept working.”
“Connectivity is quick and simple, and the range is excellent. Many IP fixtures have limited range because they’re so enclosed, but I’ve been very impressed with these.”
Anthony commented that Show Technology was very helpful and quick to supply the Pluto 8000s and that Gareth and Andy both gave great, efficient service.
